Create sites for every alumni class year (ie. http://1982.alum.goshen.edu )
Get editors from each class to maintain the site, but have plenty of automation and subscribed content so that even an unmaintained site is useful. This could also be handled as a members-only tab that brings in your class-specific data automatically based on your userID.
Public Accounts: allow alumni to sign up for public accounts (email address as userID). This would use the same mechanism as Admissions. Alumni will need a public account to access the alumni class pages and get access to services.
Lifetime resume hosting. Once logged in, an alum can create or edit their resume using Caravel tools and save it into a location where it can queried from the Hire a <Schoolname> Alum web page.
Lifetime email forwarding. Give the logged in alum tools to set this up and manage it.
Event Signup. Let alums sign up for upcoming events, alumni tours, volunteer opportunities, etc.
Online Giving. Online payments module through authorize.net. GC has already done this one using the GC Online API, so this could be ported. Some organizations may want to also support PayPal donations.
Purchase Tickets Online. Let your ticket office put blocks of tickets up for sale online. Ticket Office would have ability to add or remove tickets, be notified when you reach a particular threshhold, would get cc'd on purchases so that they could be entered in the ticketing system.
Alumni Store. Page with shopping cart and online payments that allows alums to buy school paraphernalia, send gift items to other alums or friends/relatives.
eMail Greeting Card. Send eMail Greeting Cards to other alums, students faculty (FERPA problem?)
Alumni RSS channels. Set up an alumni channel for each class, one for all classes. Some messages would get posted to both lists.
Alumni Listservs. Possibly gatewayed through the RSS channels.
Career Mentor Database. GC has written this app. Could port it to Caravel.
Job Bank. GC has written this app. Could port it to Caravel.
